As a Year 1-6 decile 7 school, we are the highest decile school in Gisborne city and are nestled in the heart of the suburb of Whataupoko. We are the school of choice for many and finished 2012 with 426 students.We are big enough to be effective and small enough to care - our students are people, not numbers!
Our class sizes are favourable and a real feature is the fact that our New Entrant classes do not go beyond 19 students! We are committed to getting our little ones off to a great start.
Our school community prides itself on the challenging and varied learning opportunities that exist for the students of Central School. Students experience quality opportunities across the entire curriculum; culturally, in the arts and also the sporting arena. Standards are unashamedly high, as we want the best for our students! Central is a school where students learn without disruption.
The dedicated staff, Board of Trustees, Parent Support Group, Komiti Awhina/Community Support Team, along with our fantastic students and wider community, make Central School a great place to be.
