New School Uniform Policy Coming in 2025!
Kia ora Gisborne Central School Whānau,
We are delighted to share some exciting news that marks an important milestone for our school
community. After extensive dialogue, community consultation, and careful consideration of your whanau
feedback, the Gisborne Central School Board of Trustees has made the positive decision to implement a
new school uniform policy rolling out in 2025.
Introducing a school uniform at Gisborne Central School is a significant step towards fostering a positive
and inclusive environment for all our students. A uniform creates a unified identity, instilling a sense of
pride and belonging, and strengthens our community spirit by reinforcing the values we uphold. We believe
students will be focused more on their learning and extracurricular activities without the distractions of
varied clothing choices, creating a conducive learning environment where everyone can thrive.
Uniforms also minimise visible socioeconomic differences, fostering an inclusive atmosphere where all
students feel equal and valued, reducing peer pressure, and enhancing mutual respect among students.
A local company, Insane Apparel, has been selected to be our uniform provider. We are committed to
ensuring that the uniform is affordable for all families. With subsidies provided by the Board of Trustees,
the cost of essential uniform items has been reduced, allowing every student to participate with less
financial strain. To further ease the financial commitment, AfterPay options will be available through Insane
Apparel on any order over $100, ensuring that all families can access the uniform without undue burden.
Implementation Timeline
